Valencia had been on a five-game unbeaten run heading into last weekend’s home clash with Mallorca, but they suffered a 2-1 loss to Javier Aguirre’s side, which was certainly a setback ahead of the visit of Barcelona.

Diakhaby’s absence is likely to see Hugo Guillamon start in central defence, while Samuel Lino and Justin Kluivert should again join Edinson Cavani in the final third of the field. Nico Gonzalez is able to face his parent club on Saturday, but he is likely to drop down to the bench. As for Barcelona, Memphis Depay, Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto remain unavailable for selection through injury, but Andreas Christensen has a chance of being back in the squad for this match.

Sergi Roberto was actually playing very well before his unfortunate shoulder injury, so Xavi has a bit of a headache when it comes to that position. With Bellerín clearly out of form and still working his way back from injury, it might be time to revisit Jules Kounde in that position and play Eric García with either Gerard Piqué or Marcos Alonso at center-back until Andreas Christensen is ready to return from his injury. Alejandro Balde continues to impress and improve with every match and should be given a real run as the starting left-back now.
